well, i have news. after two years of working toward the traditional route, i have completely halted and gone the other direction. before you ask what was wrong with the traditional route, let me tell you: nothing. absolutely nothing.
my lovely agent, sarah, simply got another position at her dream agency. but unfortunately, that meant she could no longer represent me, as she was headed to non-fiction. booo :(
so, after a few weeks of contemplating what came next, i decided to change things up a bit. it wasn't as obvious as it sounds right now though. i did a lot of research.
i am now working with clovercroft publishing out of franklin, tennessee (yep, it's only 5 minutes away from my house). and i have hired an unstoppable team of editors, interior layout designers, PR, distributors, etc.
i couldn't have done any of it (or had the confidence to do it in the first place) without those two years i spent going the regular route, so to everyone on that path, thank you! i learned so much. and i had the best time. sometimes when life changes on you...you have to change along with it.
so here are some key dates/info:
1. falling stars comes out may 1, 2015. just in time for your summer read/beach book quest!
2. i have written two songs that appear in the book. and my two real co-writers appear as the co-writers in the book :) don't worry, i had their permission. and the songs will be available on iTunes as well as playable on ashlyne.co. :)
3. i got to design the cover/do the artwork. i wasn't planning on actually doing it, but the mock up i worked up for the manuscript (just to have something) actually really worked.
4. during the book release, i will be traveling around with my 'writer friend lindsey from pennsylvania'...and she's going to sing and play the songs (among others) with me! what brought us together was music in nashville before we both started writing, so it's only natural right? i never get to see linds, so i am super excited about this.
5. i am working with the most incredible woman: bestselling author, ghostwriter, and brand manager ...mrs. tammy kling. look her up. tammykling.com. she's been absolutely wonderful to get to know as well as work with. holy moly.
so that's it. that's what is going on. that's my news. hallelujah! and i hope you had a wonderful thanksgiving!
