currently reading: saving grace by jane green

i just love jane green. i don't know her personally, but you know what, her writing makes me feel like i do...so until my dreams come to fruition and we go to coffee together so i can listen to her english accent and talk about writing for hours... i'll just keep reading her books with an english accent in my head.

i read this novel months ago, long enough to have actually read her even more recent novel, summer secrets, but i have found myself reading more than blogging these days–not a complaint, mind you. however, saving grace was one of my favorites of ms. green's.

i was expecting a softer story when i read the title and saw the cover, to be honest. a sweet, solid story. but what i discovered had a little bit of  a single-white-female vibe, which was awesome. and then there is a lot to be said about her guts in pushing somewhat of a rampant medical topic...one that no one really likes to talk about (or maybe one people don't really know exists). i know that's cryptic, but there's a reason i'm not telling you what you'll find.

i really want you to read this book. as a writer, i thoroughly enjoyed every aspect. as a reader, i was immersed.

i love that jane green isn't afraid of going there. and i think you should go straight to the book store or iBooks or amazon or whatever you do...right now :)

sidebar: i just realized that it was jane green's writing tips that i printed out when i was first trying to get some good advice on writing my first novel. yep, i printed it out and taped the "For Writers" section of her website on my wall next to my little desk in west hollywood. so, jane, thank you for that advice. i hope i can pay it forward.
